Kids in Action
Learn about our Kids in Action and Athletes in Action Nutrition and Fitness Program
Many cardiovascular issues including hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and dysautonomia can be corrected or partially so by appropriate nutrition or the clever use of nutrients as well as exercise.
In recognition of this, HOTV has built a nutrition/exercise program. Indeed, it has developed 2 programs called Kids in Action and Athletes in Action.
Activity is an important ingredient to a healthy growing body. Kids in Action and Athletes in Action are research based behavior modification programs focusing on nutrition, activity, and psychosocial health. Goals are set individually and may be adapted to reach a specific fitness level, healthy blood pressure, cholesterol level or healthy weight. Ongoing monitoring of activity plans is a significant part of our system.
ATHLETES IN ACTION
Athletes in Action is a complete health management program for young people 8-20 years old who are involved in competitive sports and who need additional sports nutrition education; especially for athletes with asthma or dysautonomia (fatigue, dizziness, and excessively racing heart). It complements our successful Kids in Action Program.
The program benefits are directed toward strengthening their focus and concentration to advance their current fitness at a pace that is right for them individually.
KIDS IN ACTION
Kids in Action is designed for children and adolescents with:
- Weight concerns
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Metabolic Syndrome
- Dysautonomia (excessive fatigue, dizziness, fainting, racing heart, nausea, and headaches)
Kids in Action is not a diet. Instead, it focuses on making healthy eating a way of life. Participants develop an awareness of their current eating habits and identify unhealthy behaviors. They are taught how to modify current behaviors by starting with small, gradual changes.
